There are many names in this world and many languages. Pronouncing my family name, EVERS, in Dutch, when travelling, will never give the correct result. So most of the time I try to make it clear by saying “The name is EVERS, as in for ever and ever with an S at the end”.

Business

To be honest all dots have some kind of connection in my life. When travelling for business I try to learn from the countries I visit, their history, their political system, their economy and the high lights to see there.

ECONOMY

Being in a small business for 40+ year I saw many things happen, many laws change, may markets change, companies come and go and I heard many people talk BS.
One of the economy things that irritates me the most is ‘inflation’. I can recommend the books from Edin Mujagic, author of ‘GELDMOORD’ and ‘KEERPUNT 1971’.

Politics

‘It is the economy stupid’ but it is also the stupid politicians that make things good and bad happen. At this moment, October 2024, the world is looking at the USA elections. Will it be Trump or Harris going to the White House. Politics big or small can have my attention. Certainly the politics from the countries where the people live that I meet.

Travelling

My company does business all over the world so there a many places to visit suppliers and dealers.
In many countries there are business relations that became friends. That makes it more easy and more fun to travel.
I love road trips and to be honest, the USA is my favorite country to travel. The natural beauty of the country is enormous and the people are very friendly and open for a conversation.
Love the national parks, but also the cities and certainly Las Vegas, but not for too long -😊..

USA

I wrote I love to travel and certainly in USA. But there is also a fascination for the country, the history, the people, the politics, the economy and the businesses.
My first visit was around 1979, the world was totally different in those days. The differences between USA and Europe were immense. These difference are less big now, for some it is good and for some it is bad.

Personal

The items I write about always have a personal touch. When I write about travel it is my personal experience. If I give my opinion on politics it is my personal opinion.
But there might also be writing about my personal life and the things I experience.

I have an age that comes with many memories and I hope to create and share many more with the readers of this blog.

What I can tell for now is that I live in a village called RIJSBERGEN, it is part of the bigger village ZUNDERT in the south of The Netherlands.
This is also the village where the famous Dutch painter VINCENT van GOGH was born. A crazy thing to realize I walk the same roads that he did when he lived here.

I love to travel, but I also love coming home and enjoy my house and garden. Taking photo’s of the ‘personal wildlife’ is one of the activities I enjoy.
